Macro technology companies are in a very complex moment, with massive layoffs, closures and desperate moves. Meta is one of the most affected by this trend, and what started with Facebook and Instagram is beginning to affect other parts of the company.

The next big hit is Echo VR, a video game developed by Ready at Dawn that consists of fighting as a robot against players from all over the world, through Virtual Reality glasses. The experience by all who have played it is defined as incredible, and has become one of the major milestones of this technology in recent years.

However, Meta is going to close the game. As reported in an exclusive for Medium, the company will close the experience, which will no longer be available on August 1 at 7:00pm Spanish time.

There are no clear reasons for the closure reflected in the post, but they have clarified that it is “for many good reasons“. In addition, they have said that they will focus on their next project, still secret, so maybe this is more good news than bad.

Echo VR's Loss Reverberates In Reality

To compensate Echo VR players, as was done with Marvel’s Avengers, players will have free rewards when playing through August 1. These rewards are:

  • All Epic + Superb sets from Echo Pass Seasons 1-6.
  • All chassis variants.
  • All rewards (excluding 3D) from Echo Pass Seasons 1-6.
  • All Echo Shop items including the Starter Bundle.
  • All rewards from previous events.
  • Some new and unique rewards.

Also, Season 7 rewards will be added in the near future. So you know, if you haven’t tried Echo VR yet and you’re curious, now is the time before they shut it down for good.
