At the end of February, we reported that Meta was testing in Australia and New Zealand a method of user verification by monthly subscription. The measure, which would seek to recover revenue after the huge losses on its investment in the Metaverse, seems to “copy” or at least be inspired by the user verification system set up by Elon Musk on Twitter, where users can display a verification badge if they pay for it.

Now, Meta has launched this verification system called “Meta Verified” in the United States, allowing users to access a number of benefits if they pay a subscription each month.

What are the advantages of Meta Verified?

Among the advantages of being a Meta Verified subscriber are the blue verification badge that many want, anti-phishing protections, exclusive stickers, and direct access to customer support (contacting Meta if you have a problem can be an ordeal). Subscription also grants greater reach on posts, although this feature is not available to U.S. users.

Meta Verified costs $11.99 per month if the subscription is purchased via the web, or $14.99 per month if purchased through the mobile app (for digital store commissions).

How to subscribe to Meta Verified

To subscribe to the service, you will need to go to your account settings, go to the Account Center and then click on Meta Verified. After starting the process, you will need to provide an identity document and wait for validation from Meta. Once you get the go-ahead, you will be able to enter your payment method and subscribe.

It is important to note that if you already have a blue verification badge, you do not need to subscribe just to get it (or for fear of losing it). Accounts verified by traditional methods will still have their badge, although they will not enjoy the benefits of the Meta Verified subscription.

At the moment, Meta Verified is only available for users in the United States, Australia and New Zealand, so if you are from another region (such as Spain), you will not be able to subscribe. However, it will most likely eventually reach all the markets where Meta operates, so if you want to know when you will be able to subscribe, you can sign up now on their waiting list.
