Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic, is joining U.S. streaming lineups in August 2026. After a massive theatrical run, it lands on Starz on August 10.
In India, Michael is expected on Jio Hotstar on August 29. Across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, release dates still vary from market to market. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is also heading to streaming this month, starting in the U.S. on Peacock on August 16. The UK gets it through BBC iPlayer, and Netflix is expected to pick it up in a handful of markets, including Argentina, Colombia, and South Africa.
Michael gets there with real momentum. It became the first biopic to clear $1 billion worldwide, opened to $97.2 million in the U.S. and $217 million globally, and gave Michael Jackson’s catalog a major boost too, with U.S. on-demand streams reportedly jumping 146% during opening week.
There’s also been plenty of criticism around the film. Michael focuses on Jackson’s early life through the 1988 Bad tour and leaves out later controversies, including the child abuse allegations. Reports say scenes connected to the 1993 allegations were cut after reshoots.
If you’re picking out the biggest at-home movie releases for August, Michael and Oppenheimer are both easy choices. For The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though, you’ll still need to buy a ticket and see them in theaters this month.
