Microsoft has lost its mind: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 requires 64 GB of RAM

There is less and less time left for the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which will take place next November 19. To prepare the ground, Asobo Studio has made public what the requirements will be for our PC to run the game.

One of the sections that has undoubtedly attracted the most attention is the amount of RAM needed to meet the ideal requirements: a “modest” 64 GB. A rather high amount of memory even for the most demanding games today.

Although it may seem crazy to us from the outside, for fans of Microsoft Flight Simulator it was something to be expected. Asobo Studio developed a system that could stream photogrammetry of cities in real-time to the game. This is another reason why it also requires a minimum network speed to function well.

Despite the large amount of RAM required, in other areas it has proven to be more restrained, such as in disk storage. This year, Microsoft Flight Simulator will only “steal” 50 GB of space from us. A significant improvement compared to the 130 GB needed by the previous installment.
