Apple is expected to announce the next version of iOS at its World Wide Developer Conference June. iOS 7 is rumored to be a more radical change than we’ve seen before. The killer features this time may be a new mobile payment system, and possibly a streaming music service.

Many people are waiting for Apple to respond to Google Wallet, which allows payment with Android devices that support NFC (Near Field Communication). Its rumored that Apple’s mobile payment system will not require this technology, which is not supported by any current iPhone. Google Wallet has yet to catch on, and if Apple can provide a secure and easy solution to mobile payment, it will be very successful.

The other rumored development is Apple’s streaming music service. Long rumored, it’s surprising that Apple doesn’t have its own version of Spotify or Pandora yet. With iTunes there is already excellent music integration in iOS, and cloud support, so streaming would be the next logical step. According to Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty, it will most likely have a freemium model like Spotify.

iOS 7 will be the first with Jony Ive taking command of interface design. We can expect more clean, flat designs, and less skeumorphism. This move away from ‘real’ looking interfaces has already been seen in the updated Podcasts app.
