Long gone is the madness that was the summer of 2016, when Pokémon GO was launched and the world took to the streets to capture all kinds of creatures. The news that went viral at the time were full of hit-and-runs for playing Pokémon, home invasions because a Snorlax happened to be in a private garden, or massive gatherings of people in parks and streets.

Since then, Pokémon GO‘s fame has declined, but it has established itself as one of the most followed games in the world. Moreover, it has given rise to a genre in itself that other sagas such as Dragon Quest or Harry Potter have followed, and now yet another has joined the augmented reality trend: Monster Hunter.

Niantic has announced Monster Hunter Now, a new title of this style in collaboration with Capcom, with the intention of bringing the franchise’s monster hunts to the real world. The game will be officially released in September for iOS and Android, but a beta will arrive on April 25 so that registered players can enjoy Monster Hunter Now for the first time.

How to play Monster Hunter Now?

Niantic‘s new game will focus on combat action and avatar customization. Players will find monsters all over the map, having to team up with companions to beat them. But they will also find materials to craft weapons, armor and items with which they can be helped.

Places of interest will be marked as waypots, which will be like Pokémon GO‘s PokéStops where you can collect resources and materials. As announced, since the first meeting between Capcom and Niantic, the first company was convinced of its development and gave the green light to the project, as it believes it is an obvious and logical way to expand its universe.

Still, despite the success of Pokémon GO, Niantic has not had it so easy with the rest of its games, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite had to close after three years. Thus, we will have to wait to see the final public support for the new Monster Hunter title.
