Monster Hunter Wilds will have a major expansion like Iceborne or Sunbreak

The producer of Monster Hunter Wilds, Ryozo Tsujimoto, has confirmed that a major expansion is in development that will resemble the Iceborne and Sunbreak expansions from previous titles in the franchise. During a commemorative video for the first anniversary of the game, Tsujimoto announced that this expansion will be officially announced during the summer of 2024. Update 1.041, which will be released as the last major content update for the standalone game, will include various improvements and new features.

They have not yet confirmed the content or the date

The anniversary event will take place from February 18 to March 19, and it will be presented as a farewell event, where all previous seasonal events will return in rotation. A new 10-star mission difficulty will be introduced, bringing back four classic Arch-tempered monsters, as well as the new Arch-tempered Arkveld, which will feature its own permanent mission. Players who complete these missions will be rewarded with Ancient Amulets, which offer a higher chance of obtaining rare talismans.

In addition, Capcom has highlighted that it will optimize the game’s performance, which has been criticized on several occasions. With the arrival of update 1.041, improvements will be implemented in the CPU and GPU, and players will be able to select LOD quality levels. The company is also “reexamining memory-related processes to identify additional areas for improvement”. These actions are in addition to the performance updates that Capcom has been making in recent months, suggesting that they are beginning to have a positive effect.

For those who wish to stay updated on the news, Capcom has promised more information on its official Wilds website in the coming weeks. Additionally, there will be a mission linked to the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Stories 3, adding another layer of excitement to the anniversary event.
