MoonHack is official: it’s coming to PC on Steam in 2027

ASTRA, Astro Production’s new indie label, has revealed MoonHack for PC on Steam, with a 2027 release in the works. The studio describes it as an emotional cyber-noir adventure set in 2125. You follow a protagonist and a group of girls pushing back against a tightly controlled digital society, one that reaches all the way into people’s emotions and relationships, and they fight it with song. English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese are all planned.

According to ASTRA, the game leans heavily on story and mixes adventure sections with 3D rhythm action. What that actually looks like from moment to moment is still a little unclear, since the studio hasn’t said much yet about how those two sides of the game fit together.

For people who like stylish, story-driven indies, this one has a reason to stick in your head. The idea of music as a form of resistance gives it a distinct angle, and it’s showing up at a time when Japan’s indie scene is growing fast. Yano Research Institute’s 2026 otaku market study projects 23.9% growth for indie games. MoonHack is set to hit PC through Steam in 2027, and the fuller breakdown on gameplay and characters will probably come closer to launch.
