The integration of artificial intelligences into browsers has only just begun. Microsoft, which has invested more than $10 billion in OpenAI, the parents of ChatGPT, integrated a chatbot based on GPT-4 into its Bing search engine, both separately and in its Microsoft Edge browser. It includes 3 conversational modes and will be able to create images automatically in the future.
Now, the next browser to include AI will be Opera, which has announced the integration of several chatbots based on ChatGPT and ChatSonic in both Opera and Opera GX. At the moment, the AI-powered features are only available to people signed up for early access to the desktop browsers, Opera says in a blog post.
Among the AI functions is a new tool that allows the automatic generation of summaries of any web page or article. In addition to this function, the chatbots will be able to write posts on social networks as if they were you or give you ideas for new content. Those who want to make use of these new AI functions will have to activate the “AI prompts” option in the configuration menu.
Opera’s new chatbots will be located in the sidebar of its desktop browsers, similar to Microsoft Edge with its Bing chatbot. The ChatGPT-based chatbot will be able to generate text, while the ChatSonic-based chatbot, which uses GPT-4 as its model, will also allow images to be generated from text entered by the user.
“Artificial intelligence-generated content changes the rules of the web browsing game. Our goal is to use these technologies to give our users new browsing superpowers by reimagining how they learn, create and research,” Opera product manager Joanna Czajka said in the statement.
Which company do you think will be the next to include AI features in its browser?
