The Mobile World Congress 2023 is being the scene of major announcements in the world of technology and telecommunications. Among the big names at the event held in Barcelona is Google, which did not want to miss the opportunity to announce new features for Android, Chromebook and Wear OS, designed to improve accessibility, productivity and connectivity.
According to TechCrunch, the first of these announcements is that its Fast Pair service will soon allow new Bluetooth headsets to connect to a Chromebook with a single tap. The update, whose release date is not yet known, will also allow those headsets already configured on an Android phone to automatically connect to a Chromebook.
Google has also announced that it will be launching a notes widget for Google Keep that will help users quickly manage their notes and check off to-do lists from their home screen. The company has also launched another productivity feature that will allow users to annotate Google Drive PDFs using a stylus or by simply tapping the screen.
The company also announced that its Wear OS will receive two new sound and display modes designed to improve the watch’s accessibility. In addition, Google Meet will soon offer noise cancellation on more Android devices, and Google Chrome will receive an update that will allow users to zoom in on web page content by up to 300% without the pages becoming out of sync.
Other minor announcements from Google include new emoticon combinations it has already launched in Emoji Kitchen, a feature in its Gboard keyboard app that allows users to send merged or remixed versions of Google’s emoji designs, and new animations in Google Wallet for the “tap to pay” feature, which will include penguins and other characters starting next week.
Announcements of interest that add to those made between yesterday and today at the Mobile World Congress 2023 by other major companies such as Samsung. Among the novelties in the world of telephony, we find the Xiaomi 13/13 Pro, the OnePlus 11 Concept and the Honor Magic 5 Pro.
