The Mobile World Congress 2023 held in Barcelona is bringing all kinds of surprises from all brands. And I’m not just talking about great new products such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 or the Xiaomi 13 Pro, but also about other major technological milestones such as the Hyperloop.

But there is a novelty that has been repeated on several occasions and that has set the trend at the congress: foldable cell phones. Among them we find the already known Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 or the Huawei Mate Xs 2. However, it has been a more unknown brand that has given the surprise: Tecno.

Tecno is a Chinese multinational that has been bringing interesting proposals to the smartphone market for years. It is the creator of the Spark, Camon and Pouvoir range, and has stood out at MWC for its new foldable smartphone: Tecno Phantom V Fold.

This device has a book format, i.e., it opens by its screen doubling its size and becoming a small tablet thanks to its mechanism attached with a hinge. Its external screen (the one used as a normal mobile) has 6’42 inches and a resolution of 1080×2550 pixels. But when opened, its external screen reaches 7.85 inches and a resolution of 2296×2000 pixels.

TECNO Phantom V Fold hands-on impressions: Showing spirit

Both screens feature OLED technology and a maximum peak brightness of 1,100 nits. In addition, it has a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ processor, with a great performance that has nothing to envy to other large screens. Its RAM memory is 12GB and it has a storage to choose between 256 or 512 GB. In addition, its battery reaches 5,000 mAh capacity, being able to charge up to 40% in 15 minutes. It runs the Android 13 operating system.

Beyond its internal features, it incorporates a triple camera with a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 50MP telephoto lens and a 13MP wide-angle lens. In addition, it has two other cameras: a 32MP and a 16MP internal camera. Undoubtedly, this is a very interesting alternative that, if it works, will give a lot to talk about.
