Netflix’s The Witcher final season is now set for 2027

Netflix says The Witcher will return in 2027 for a fifth and final season, not in 2026 as a lot of fans were hoping, which means the show’s run will stretch to nearly eight years after its debut.

That timing matches reports that production wrapped in October 2025, and it also fits the show’s usual two-year gaps. Seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back, but there’s still plenty of post-production left to do.

Netflix says season 5 will be the end of the series, with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich adapting Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.

If you’ve been following the series, there’s still a lot the final run has to sort out: Geralt’s search for Ciri, Yennefer’s Lodge, Ciri’s captivity under Leo Bonhart and her escape, Ciri’s father’s plans, and the broader power struggle across the Continent.

That all comes after season 4 slipped to 7.4 million views, according to Netflix, compared with 15.92 million for season 3 volume 1 and 18.8 million for season 2, and after the show got mixed reactions to Liam Hemsworth stepping in for Henry Cavill amid the backlash over Cavill’s exit, the series’ changes to the books, and the later course corrections from season 2 onward.

You’ll be able to watch the finale on Netflix, while The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, the reworked Rats special, Crossroads of Ravens, and The Witcher IV will keep the franchise going.
