We had been asking Ubisoft for a while to release games similar to Child of Light or Valiant Hearts. However, the predominant focus within the French company was on live service games, to the extent that they canceled 7 projects in recent months. Luckily for us, there was a little surprise in store: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
According to the limited information that has been revealed, the game will take us into the world of Persian mythology with a platforming and action twist. In fact, from what we’ve seen, it appears to be a fast-paced metroidvania game.
“Control Sargon and go from being a sword prodigy to a true legend! Master the secrets of acrobatic combat and unlock new time powers and unique special abilities,” the description in Ubisoft’s uploaded video suggests.
We must not forget that the Prince of Persia series has been going through challenging times. Its latest installment, a remake of the original game, was supposed to be released a year and a half ago. However, Ubisoft decided to delay the title despite it being finished. Currently, development is being handled by Ubisoft Montreal, and there is no scheduled release date (rumors suggest there has been a complete reboot, meaning the development has been restarted to take a different direction).
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be available on January 18, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In other words, it will be released on almost every existing platform at the moment.
