Nicolas Cage rejected a role in the original 'Spider-man'… although now he finally plays the superhero

There is only one Nicolas Cage, for better or for worse. It is possible that the world could not handle the intensity, quality, level, and madness of his performances.
Hated and loved at the same time, parodied and revered, Cage is everything an actor should be: an absolute and fabulous lunatic, a force of nature, someone charismatic and instantly recognizable. And if the public has realized that there is only one Cage, Hollywood has been vying for him for the most bizarre projects for years.
Come out, little spider, I want to see your little legs!
Nicolas Cage always wanted to be Superman, and he even tried on the suit for Tim Burton’s failed Superman Lives! (he finally fulfilled his dream in The Flash… although he left the theater very disappointed).
However, the one who has given him the opportunity to don the lycra suit has been Spider-man, first as a voice actor in the multiversal animated films and then reprising his Spider-noir character in the Amazon Prime Video television series that will premiere on May 27. However, it was not his first encounter with the spider.
As confirmed, Sam Raimi asked him to play Norman Osborn, the antithesis of the superhero known as the Green Goblin, in the first Spider-man, but Cage turned down the opportunity to make the fabulous Adaptation. “For me, that was the right choice back then”, he explained. Then and now: if you haven’t seen Adaptation, I can only insist that you watch it as soon as possible.
In the end, the one who took the spider to the water was Willem Dafoe, and since then it has been impossible to think of another actor as Green Goblin. It’s not that Cage would have minded playing the villain, of course: “I’ve done a bunch of villains. I like both, I think they are important parts of cinema. I don’t want to be typecast doing just one thing“. If there’s anyone who can replace Dafoe in that iconic role, it is undoubtedly Nic. You have to love him.
