Terrible Toybox, the studio founded by Ron Gilbert, known for creating legendary games like Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion, has announced the sequel to one of the most celebrated graphic adventures of the last few years: Thimbleweed Park. Which will have a very simple title. Thimbleweed Park 2.
A game that was a Kickstarter hit
As for the game, Gilbert said that it won’t be exactly a sequel or a prequel. Although he didn’t want to specify when exactly the game will take place. What he did make clear is that production has already begun and it will be self-published with the help of a private investor, unlike the original game, which was released as a spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion, and which was funded through Kickstarter in just six days in 2014.
Set for release on PC in 2028, we’ll still have to wait to play as Ray and Reyes again, who this time will have to investigate the mysterious appearance of a corpse in the Edmund mansion. With everyone there being a possible suspect. Even if to discover what mysteries the mansion has in store for us and who the killer is we’ll still have to wait quite a while.
