If you don’t like the dramatic redesign of iOS 7, I’ve got some bad news. Apple is reportedly working to adopt iOS 7’s design cues and features into the next version of OS X, which is expected to debut during Apple’s developer conference in June.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as OS X has been adopting more and more iOS like features and iconography. Launchpad first debuted with OS X Lion (10.7), which gave Mac users an iOS-like app launcher with big icons and gesture controls. OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) saw the introduction of iMessages, which allowed users to text from their Macs. The operating system also brought iOS’s notification center into the mix.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Siri appear in OS X 10.10 as well, a feature many expected to see in Mavericks. Apple Maps and iBooks were added with Mavericks, apps which Apple brought over from iOS. Apple’s magazine app, Newsstand, has yet to appear in OS X.

9to5Mac also reports that OS X 10.10 is known internally as “Syrah,” a type of wine. This goes in line with Apple’s California-themed product names like Mavericks. John Gruber speculates that OS X 10.10 could be called “Yosemite,” after the national park.

Although Apple is adding more iOS features into OS X, the desktop experience will remain untouched. Features like Mission Control, Finder, and multitasking will still be available in OS X 10.10.
