Outer Range is now a complete two-season watch: Prime Video canceled it in July 2024

Prime Video now has the full run of Outer Range available to stream, both seasons, after Amazon canceled the sci-fi Western in July 2024. Josh Brolin stars as Royal Abbott, a Wyoming rancher at the center of a series that mixes the eerie pull of Twin Peaks with the supernatural pressure of Stranger Things.

Brolin’s Royal is dealing with more than cattle and land fights. He finds a black void on his property, and from there the story spills into family conflict, rival ranchers, disappearances, and the creeping sense that time itself is starting to come apart.

The Twin Peaks and Stranger Things comparison isn’t random. Outer Range leans into small-town tension, people behaving strangely, and an ancient threat nobody can fully explain. At the center of it all is a dangerous phenomenon that keeps hinting at bigger answers, even though major threads involving alternate timelines, the void, and the Abbott family were never fully resolved.

Brolin leads a cast that also includes Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, and Tom Pelphrey, with Plan B Entertainment producing.

Season 1 premiered on April 15, 2022, with two episodes released each week. Season 2 arrived on May 16, 2024, as a full-season drop, and Charles Murray stepped in as showrunner, replacing creator Brian Watkins.

If you’re in the mood for a strange, haunting sci-fi Western, this one still has a lot going for it, even if the generally positive reviews were split over the pacing and a second season that leaned more heavily into plot.
