Overwatch 2 adds Neon Junction: killer bees and a deadly train

Blizzard rolled out the Neon Junction update for Overwatch 2 on June 16, 2026, as part of Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den. The new map comes with two environmental hazards: destructible beehives that burst open when you shoot them, and a moving train that kills on contact.

The bees only chip away at your health, so they usually won’t get the kill by themselves. But if you limp out of a team fight, barely survive an ultimate, and retreat with a sliver of health, they can absolutely finish you off. That alone is already turning bee deaths into viral clips.

Neon Junction is also Shion’s home ground. Blizzard describes Shion as Overwatch 2’s new high-mobility 52nd hero and the leader of the Hashimoto clan. The map is a neon-soaked Japanese city with obvious nods to Akihabara and Shinjuku, and it’s packed with lore touches and little Easter eggs. Players are already arguing over whether the hazards feel fair in competitive play or tilt things toward attackers. Blizzard hasn’t released any official numbers yet on how often people are getting taken out by the bees or the train.

If you play Overwatch 2 a lot, this update is probably worth grabbing for the chaos by itself. Just keep your distance from those hives when you’re one hit from dying.
