Disney Plus continues to rise as one of the best VOD platforms we have today. Beyond Netflix and HBO Max, established since their beginnings as the most reliable alternatives of this service, since the arrival of the Mickey Mouse platform everything has changed.

Disney+ boasts some of the most anticipated releases on a regular basis, with Star Wars releases -such as The Mandalorian or Andorand Marvel Studios releases -such as Moon Knight or the upcoming Secret Invasion– being the most eye-catching. Nevertheless, it has a very attractive catalog away from its main IPs, and so it proves with this week of releases.

Disney+’s upcoming releases are so varied that they range from a series based on Jules Verne’s book to a special program directed by Jordi Évole with Pope Francis. There is no doubt that the supposedly family-friendly platform has material for all tastes.

Disney Plus featured releases from April 03rd through April 9th

Journey to the Center of the Earth

This Mexican series, which brings the Spanish Óscar Jaenada as one of the main characters, has a very interesting synopsis based on adapting, in its own way, the original book by Jules Verne. The synopsis is as follows:

Diego (Sebastián García) is sent by his parents to Pompilio Calderón’s (Óscar Jaenada) camp. There, along with his siblings and friends, he finds the abandoned car of his grandmother Pola (Margarita Rosa de Francisco), and following her tracks he arrives at a mysterious portal to another dimension. When Diego discovers a powerful family secret, he understands that he must protect the dimension he has found, but the mission is not so simple: Pompilio and his henchman Claudio (Mauricio Barrientos) will do everything possible to destroy the fantastic world they have managed to enter.

Premiere date: 05/04

The Crossover

It has been a long time since Disney delighted us with a teenage sports fiction, as it used to do all the time. This time it does so with The Crossover, a series with basketball at the center that will be very emotional. The plot centers on the story of two teenage basketball phenom brothers, Jordan “J. B.” and Josh “Filthy” Bell, as they manage life issues such as becoming adults, separating and abiding by the rules set by their father and basketball coach on and off the court.

Premiere date: 05/04

The Pope: Answers

That this Pope of Rome is not like the usual ones, we have known it for years, but the pontiff does not want to stop verifying it. The Argentine priest meets with several people from different current realities to talk about issues that the church does not usually touch on, such as the trans and homosexual reality or feminism. Directed by the former presenter of Salvados Jordi Évole, it will undoubtedly grab many headlines after its release.

Premiere date: 05/04

Tiny Beautiful Things

Starring Kathryn Hahn, an actress made famous at Marvel for her wonderful Agatha Harkness, this series tells the story of a woman who reluctantly becomes Dear Sugar. She soon realizes that she can’t stop being an advice columnist even when no one asks her to.
