A few months ago we saw that the PC Futbol account on Twitter was more active than ever. The legendary soccer video game, where we play to be coach, president and a little bit of everything -and delighted about it-, commented that his return was closer than it seemed. Now, we already know that it will take place at the end of this year, on December 23, 2023 to be exact.
In an interview granted to Vandal by Héctor Prats, one of the creators of PC Fútbol 2024, he points out that “in May we can already take real images“, and that “by September we will have our alpha in place for people who are pre-purchasing” (5,000 units available at PcComponentes). “It won’t be there for the 5,000, but surely the first 1,000 will have access,” he notes. “In addition, all pre-purchasers will be able to access a channel to contribute ideas or suggestions. When we say we want to build things with people we really mean it. Then there will be an alpha and in November we might open a beta; I don’t know about public.”
Héctor points out that of the 5,000 copies that have been put on pre-sale, approximately 2,000 have already been sold. In response to comments about the lack of viability of the project, the studio points out that you can always request a refund until December 22 at 23:59 hours, that is, just one minute before the title in question is launched. In addition, they are confident that they will meet this release date: “No, we are not contemplating a delay. I’ll explain why. It’s not pride or anything like that: we’re going to release the game and it’s not going to have bugs, but if we have to remove something (in terms of content) we’ll remove it and then we can add it with a free update without any problem. What we could delay is the public release, but the pre-sale is going to be released”.
As for the use of the brand, the studio says that they talked to the creators of the brand and gave them the rights, all after presenting their project to them. In addition, as far as licenses are concerned, they are well aware that obtaining those of the main leagues is practically impossible, so there will be the possibility of creating mods or establishing customized databases. “Whoever gives us the licenses, perfect; we will use their licenses,” he remarks after confirming that teams such as Real Jaén or Orihuela have already shown interest. “When you start the game, you will have the possibility of loading our data or that of a community”.
“We want the same philosophy of PC Football 5, 6 or 7, which is one thing I like. We have taken a survey and everyone is going along the same lines as us, betting on that magic, that simplicity. In the end you have a lot of options, but it’s done in such a way that everything is more or less accessible and you can understand it at a glance,” he says.
PC Football 2024 will be available for PC, Max, Linux and mobile devices. Users who purchase the PC version will receive the smartphone version for free and will be able to synchronize games thanks to the cloud. Therefore, it can be played indistinctly in one place or another. And yes, the idea is to release it also on Steam.
