Peppa Pig has just won her most extreme court battle. Yes, you read that right

Peppa Pig has been part of millions of homes since 2004, and over the course of its 459 episodes, parents across half the world have wanted to tear their hair out just to get the little pig out of their lives. However, better the devil you know than the devil you don’t, as everyone who’s had the misfortune of watching Wolfoo, a Vietnamese series that basically plagiarizes every episode from start to finish without so much as an apology, will know.

What a mess

I’m about to become a father, and one of the things I fear most in the world is that my daughter will be more into Peppa Pig than Bluey (when she grows up, of course). But I’d be even more afraid that she got into Wolfoo… although that’s going to be difficult in light of the latest court case that Hasbro has won without any trouble. And that’s because Wolfoo not only used audio tracks directly stolen from Peppa Pig, it also copied sound effects, expressions, and episode plots. Basically, like AI, but with people behind it.

Wolfoo launched in 2018 as a series for YouTube, and it already has more than 1,000 episodes between 2 and 3 minutes long, across its many channels while trying to capitalize on preschool entertainment and parental desperation. What’s more: it has even spawned movies and a spin-off titled Bearee… which, after the trial, is going to have to be removed from the internet.

Wolfoo’s official channel posted the trial ruling on YouTube a day ago, but that hasn’t stopped them from uploading yet another compilation video of the little wolf’s adventures. SConnect, the production company, has defended itself by stating that the videos with Peppa Pig sounds came from videos made before 2020 by an independent freelancer and that they no longer use them, but, even so, the judge has stated that they are still responsible. So, they thought Wolfoo would be a gold mine, but they ran into Peppa Pig’s power.
