Range Rover’s Electric SUV Waitlist Surges Past 61,000 As Launch Approaches

The wait for Range Rover’s first electric SUV is nearing an end, with over 61,000 prospective buyers now on the waitlist.

This figure marks a significant rise from 48,000 in November 2024, highlighting the surging interest in the vehicle as it prepares for its official showroom debut in the coming months.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) confirmed the growing demand following their Q4 and FY25 financial results, signaling strong consumer anticipation for the electric model.

Surging Demand for Range Rover Electric SUV Hits 61,000 Waitlist

Currently undergoing extensive winter testing in Sweden, the SUV has already been put through its paces over 45,000 miles in extreme conditions to ensure it upholds the “unrivalled” driving experience that Range Rover is renowned for.

According to Thomas Müller, JLR’s executive director of product engineering, this electric variant is reportedly outperforming several high-end gas-powered models, positioning it as a formidable contender in the EV market.

The Range Rover Electric features JLR’s first in-house-designed 800V battery and an electric powertrain, powered by a robust 117 kWh battery. While the exact driving range has yet to be disclosed, the company assures that this electric SUV will match, if not exceed, the performance of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.

Looking ahead, JLR is actively preparing for production with new electric vehicle production lines established at its Solihull plant in the UK. Additionally, plans are underway to roll out smaller electric models, such as the Sport and Velar, by 2026, along with a new EV under the Freelander brand in collaboration with Chery Auto, a Chinese automaker.

As the launch approaches, the excitement around the Range Rover Electric continues to build, reflecting a broader industry shift towards electric mobility.
