Of the many ways you can spend your time in the vast world of Red Dead Online, raiding gang hideouts is one of the most lucrative and the most fun. These hideouts are filled with enemy gang members and loot that can range from cash to treasure maps and more. The catch is, they won’t always spawn in the same location. The locations on the list below are possible areas where gang hideouts will spawn, so if you check out one of the locations and can’t find anything, try heading to another area on the list. Whether you take them on solo or with a posse, here’s where to look for gang strongholds in the game.

Bacchus Station

The Bacchus Station hideout is a small area with surprisingly little cover, located just to the north of Fort Wallace. You may want to use long-range weapons to clear this hideout; try grabbing cover at a distance and picking off the gang members with a sniper rifle.

Colter

Colter is an abandoned snow-covered mining town where the game’s single-player campaign starts. The various collapsed buildings and ruined structures offer plenty of cover, but also plenty of hiding places where gang members can ambush you. Oh, and don’t forget your winter coat if you decide to take this one on.

Clemen’s Point

The hideout at Clemens Point is located on a small peninsula west of Rhodes. You can either ride in from the town and use the trees of the surrounding forest for cover, or snag a boat and try an assault from the water.

Cumberland Falls

The hideout at Cumberland Falls is a fairly common spawn, located between Valentine and Wallace Station. If the hideout doesn’t appear, try riding to one of those two locations and back to the Falls. Usually, this will get the hideout to spawn.

Ewing Basin

Another snow-covered hideout, this one is located in the ruins of an old mining facility. If you can get up onto the rooftops or one of the lookout towers at this location, you can make good use of a sniper or other ranged rifle to pick off your targets.

Fort Mercer

Most Red Dead players will be familiar with Fort Mercer. It’s a popular location for local gangs, including the one that will eventually be formed by Bill Williamson. It’s important to note that the Fort itself isn’t actually the hideout. You’ll want to look on the outskirts of the Fort to find the camp. You should be able to see it on your map as you make your approach.

Hanging Dog Ranch

The hideout at Hanging Dog Ranch includes plenty of structures and other obstacles to use for cover. This usually means a lot of close combat, so you’d do well to bring your shotgun of choice for this one.

Jorge’s Gap

The hideout in Jorge’s Gap is located west of Armadillo, in an area that will usually spawn a few different gang hideouts. As with the Cumberland Falls hideout, spending some time in Armadillo will usually get this particular hideout to spawn.

Lakay

The Lakay hideout is located on a peninsula in the midst of the bayou north of Saint Denis. There’s only one land route into Lakay, which can turn into a deadly choke point. This means you’ll want to make a stealthy approach if possible, or try an assault through the bayou itself if you want to risk becoming gator food.

The Loft

This hideout spawns up north in the Grizzlies, at an old lookout tower known as The Loft. This location will have you heading uphill to assault the tower itself, so you’ll want to bring plenty of ammo and carefully use cover as you assault up the hill.

Mount Hagen

Located high atop Mount Hagen, you’ll want to bring your warmest clothes for the assault on this hideout. It’s spread out over a fairly large area, but there’s plenty of cover available, so take your time and make sure you fully clear each area before moving on.

Quaker’s Cove

Quaker’s Cove is a small dock area south of Blackwater. You’ll be able to get a clear view of it from the surrounding cliffs as you approach, which means there’s ample opportunity to make use of a sniper rifle.

Rattlesnake Hollow

The Rattlesnake Hollow hideout is a stone’s throw from the hideout located at Twin Rocks. Usually, the two won’t spawn simultaneously, but be wary all the same or you might be in for a massive firefight.

Sea of Coronado

Located at the most southwestern point on the map, the hideout at the Sea of Coronado is bordered by the ocean on one side and steep cliffs on the other. You’ll have to assault it head on, so be careful not to get caught in a chokepoint.

Solomon’s Folly

Solomon’s Folly is a former ranch, which includes nothing more than a run-down barn and a house. Usually, this location can be cleared fairly quickly.

Twin Rocks

The Twin Rocks hideout will be familar to players of the first Red Dead, where it also served as a gang hideout. It consists of two small structures and the rocks from which the location gets its name. Keep an eye out for snipers as you approach, and try to take it stealthy until you get close. The surrounding desert doesn’t offer much cover and makes you an easy target at range.

Willard’s Rest

Willard’s Rest is a cabin and a few small outbuildings to the north of the Roanoke Ridge region. You’ll have to assault the cabin up a small hill, so be careful as you may end up charging directly into a group of enemies.

Dust off your spurs and oil your rifle. Clearing these locations out can be a bit of a challenge, but the rewards make it well worth the risk.

Alex's first experience with video games came at the tender young age of 12, when his parents gave him and his brothers a PlayStation 2 for Christmas. They’ve probably been regretting that mistake ever since, because as soon he finished his first lap in Gran Turismo 3, Alex was hooked for life. In addition to writing for Softonic, Alex has turned that love of games into a voice acting career, and has voiced everything from grizzled old soldiers to vampire lords. When he's not gaming or getting behind the microphone, Alex can probably be found wandering the woods around Boston or putting together some new culinary delight in his kitchen.
