The popular “ask me anything” subreddit, r/AMA, has its own app now. Developed by reddit, the app allows users to catch up on questions and answers from celebrities to the average Joe.
reddit decided to release the app since AMAs have become so popular for people outside the reddit community. “AMAs get a lot of attention outside of reddit, and often you’ll see ‘Top 10 answers or moments to [insert name of celebrity or person]’s AMA.’ While those recaps may be good for those who cannot follow AMAs as they happen live, there is so much more to AMAs that those brief excerpts cannot convey,” writes a reddit employee in a blog post.
The app, available only for iOS at the moment, is very straight forward. The app shows cards for different AMAs and you can quickly browse through them by swiping left or right. Once in an AMA, you can read only answered questions, or read every question that was posted. This is a great way to get to responses quickly.
You don’t have to sign up to use the app, but you will have more options if you do. For example, you can access “not safe for work” content, which is blocked by default.
reddit is working on a releasing a beta of the AMA app for Android. There’s no word when we can expect the app though.
