gmail for androidLast week, Google announced that it would be updating Gmail with categories for the web and mobile. While the web version has had access to the new categories, the company is only now beginning to roll out the update to for Android users.

If you’ve been testing out the new category feature on the web version of Gmail, you’ll be familiar with the Gmail redesign. The biggest interface change is the new side navigation bar. Previous version of Gmail for Android featured a drop down menu that let users access sections like starred, sent mail, and labels. With the new app, categories, labels, and settings will be located inside the left navigation bar.

Another welcomed update to Gmail for Android is the addition of pull to refresh, which has been available in the iOS version for a while now.

The update will be rolling out the next couple of weeks so be patient if you haven’t received an update.
