The Odyssey co-star was actually screaming to age his voice

Imagine the situation: you’re shooting one of the most important films of the year surrounded by stars when suddenly, from the dressing room next door, you start hearing bloodcurdling screams, as if someone had been hurt really badly.
That’s what happened to Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson with Matt Damon on the set of The Odyssey while they were waiting between takes: Did something happen? No, of course not, but they still got quite a scare.
Quite an odyssey
It was Pattinson who spoke about it, saying that “He’s such a nice guy… I thought he was on the phone and I thought he was an absolute psychopath. He was just shouting and shouting and shouting. I thought he was having a really bad time in the bathroom“. Just in case, don’t go near Pattinson while he’s in the bathroom if he thinks this is normal.
There was an explanation for everything, of course, and it’s perfectly understandable: “He was raising his voice to sound older. He was taking years off his life to do it“. And it’s true that Damon’s voice in The Odyssey is spectacular, a marvel that few can pull off. If this is his last chance to win the Oscar again, then he’s certainly made the most of it like no one else.
You can’t say he didn’t give it absolutely everything: he lost a huge amount of weight, while staying strong. According to him, he hadn’t been that thin since high school, so he had to train hard and stick to a strict diet. One of those few times when you’re not glad to be part of Hollywood.
