Roblox accumulated over 13,000 reports of child harassment

The success of Roblox keeps growing and growing. However, behind the scenes, there is a very dark side that is worrying many users: cases of child exploitation and harassment that are hidden in the games created on the platform.

A recent article from Bloomberg (via Vandal) points out that, during 2023, Roblox accumulated more than 13,000 reports of child harassment. The number is high, but the platform has already issued a statement stating that each report is carefully reviewed, while also noting that the vast volume of players who enjoy Roblox without issues should be considered.

“Tens of millions of people of all ages have safe and positive experiences every day,” says Matt Kaufman, Director of Safety at Roblox. In this sense, the platform works hard and decisively against all these child predators, which has allowed countless cases of harassment to be handed over to the authorities and relevant authorities.

Despite these measures, countries like Turkey have not hesitated to ban Roblox. The reason is none other than the one mentioned in this Bloomberg report, which discusses child exploitation, as well as the abuses committed by some users who seek to take advantage of these vulnerable situations. The platform has already indicated that they are working with the authorities to solve this ban.

Currently, Roblox has over 70 million daily users, an impressive number that almost no other game reaches. This allows them to accumulate over 200 million monthly players, 50,000 chat messages per second, and 3,000 moderators who control each one of these messages, although they themselves admit that they cannot reach everything.
