Roblox has changed its safety rules for younger users. In the Roblox Kids and Roblox Select categories, games aimed at ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 15 can no longer use reward-based media feeds.

For those two categories, developers aren’t allowed to tie in-game rewards to videos or image feeds that autoplay or scroll forever. Roblox says that kind of viewing, where there’s no real stopping point, isn’t appropriate for younger players. The change comes after Roblox removed Steal an Egg, a game that drew criticism for having players watch an endless feed while standing on a virtual treadmill to earn extra speed. Developers can still run regular opt-in rewarded video ads, though, as long as those ads are limited and not turned into endless feeds.

If you’ve got kids on Roblox, or you make games for younger players, this matters. It also lands alongside the platform’s other child-safety changes: curated accounts, stricter chat and content controls, and a bigger set of parental tools Roblox has introduced while facing pressure from regulators and child-safety groups in the US, Australia, and the EU.

You can still use Roblox on mobile, PC, consoles, and the web. This policy now applies across those younger-audience experiences on all of them.
