The trailer for GTA 6 broke the Internet at the end of 2023, even though it promised that we would have to wait until 2025 to get a taste of it. Many of us are suspicious of Rockstar because it’s not the first time they’ve ventured with a date and then backed out. In fact, the older ones will remember that GTA 4 was announced for October 2007 and ended up being released in 2008. And now it seems that the same thing might happen again.
GTA: Delayed Edition
Although, in truth, it is all conjecture. The one who has stirred things up is Obbe Vermeij, who was once the technical director of Rockstar and who has clarified that he does not have internal information, but does have certain intuitions that he has shared on Twitter. That said, we won’t know if it’s true for at least another six months because if they decide to delay it, we will find out in the summer.
Indeed, according to him, the decision to delay GTA 4 was made just four months before the original release date because once the games start being produced, it’s difficult to turn back. According to him, “Rockstar probably won’t be in a position to determine yet if they will make it to 2025 until around May.” After all, knowing that the sales of GTA 6 will break the industry in two, they can afford to take it easy.
“They won’t release the game until they are 100% happy with it. It doesn’t matter what the trailer said”, Vermeij has stated… although, to be fair, he left the ship fifteen years ago, so he might not be our most reliable source. Rumors are starting to circulate, and usually, as the saying goes, where there’s smoke, there’s fire…
