Rockstar’s GTA 6 gameplay reveal premieres August 27: how to watch

Rockstar Games has locked in August 27 for Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, its new official presentation for Grand Theft Auto VI. It premieres on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET, which gives viewers the clearest official look at GTA 6 gameplay so far. Then, after a six-hour exclusive window, it’s expected to hit Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel and official website at 9 p.m. ET.

So if you’re trying to watch Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look the moment it goes live, Netflix is where it starts on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. If you wait out the six-hour exclusive window, it should show up on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel and official website at 9 p.m. ET.

It’s an unusual way to roll out a GTA reveal, and it fits neatly with Netflix’s push into gaming. You can also see why the reaction is split. Some fans read it as smart promotion for both companies. Others see it as a temporary paywall.

If you’re counting down to launch, this is the reveal to keep an eye on, because it wipes away months of CyberLeek-related leaks about gameplay systems and story details and replaces them with Rockstar Games’ own curated reset. And it’s doing that around a game that, based on analyst estimates, could land somewhere between 37 million and 60 million first-week sales, pull in $3.25 billion to $5.2 billion in revenue, and generate about $260 million in global pre-orders in its first week of availability.

You can watch Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look first on Netflix, or just catch it later that evening for free on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel and website.
