After a string of betas, iOS 7.1 is rumored to be coming out in mid-March. The update will fix bugs, include some interface improvements and close exploits used by jailbreaks.

New rumors also suggest that Apple will seriously target businesses and organizations with iOS 7.1. An overhauled ‘Mobile Device Management‘ system will ship with 7.1, which allows organizations to deploy apps and updates to multiple devices. Volume Services, for which a website with login page already exists, will allow organizations to make bulk purchases of apps or eBooks. The current system was exposed as weak when Californian students successfully bypassed administrator restrictions placed on their devices. Apple needs to fix this to make sure it can become the mobile OS of choice for organizations, where many people still feel BlackBerry has the advantage.

For individual users, the changes in iOS 7.1 will be less noticeable. The interface changes are subtle, and many of the bugs originally found in iOS 7 have already been patched. As we said earlier this month, the update is more about smoothing out wrinkles than making any big changes.
