The third season of “Euphoria,” which will premiere on April 13 on HBO Max Spain, has received mixed reviews and has seen a notable decline in its rating on Rotten Tomatoes, reaching 50%, the lowest among all its seasons.
To put it in perspective, the first season achieved an 80%, and the second, critically acclaimed, received a 78%. This decline has become evident through various reviews that highlight the narrative and pacing deficiencies.
Zendaya shines in the role of Rue amidst the challenges of the final season of Euphoria
New York Magazine has noted that the episodes of the new season feel excessively slow, citing a “painfully expository” narrative and unresolved tension between the already known character dynamics and elements of the new genre that the season seeks to incorporate.
However, not everything is negative criticism. Some media outlets like Variety highlight that “Euphoria is always entertaining,” suggesting that the provocative essence of the series still manages to capture the audience’s interest.
Despite the controversies surrounding this season, Zendaya has continued to receive praise for her portrayal of Rue, being considered a “ray of hope” amid widespread disappointment. Her performance has been a catalyst for discussion about the struggles her character faces in this new stage of her life.
Season 3 features a significant time jump that takes the characters out of their school environment, confronting them with the challenges of adult life and touching on deep themes such as faith and redemption.
This could lead to an interesting development, although initial reviews suggest that the path has not been the most effective. Nevertheless, the fans of the series seem to eagerly anticipate its return, despite the mixed opinions it has generated.
