For months we doubted that Silent Hill could be a powerful game, and it wasn’t entirely our fault. The trailers looked very bad, the fights between the publisher and the developer, dodging questions from the press… everything indicated that the game was going to be a disaster. Today we know that it hasn’t been the case.
Konami has proudly announced that the Silent Hill 2 Remake sold more than one million units worldwide between PC and PlayStation 5. And the actual figure must be quite higher considering that the report only mentions sales from the first five days (up to October 11).
It is an impressive figure, considering that the game was released on October 7th. It is another indicator of the game’s great reception by both critics and users. On Steam, the Silent Hill 2 Remake did not reach a massive peak, reaching 23,600 concurrent users.
However, user reviews are extremely positive, with 92.5% of players leaving a favorable review. This amount of positive votes is something we didn’t see coming, to be honest.
A game that is almost perfect, an outstanding remake
Unfortunately, the game presents some technical deficiencies on PC, especially regarding scrolling instability, as in most recent Unreal Engine games. Bloober Team still has work to do through patches to fix this.
By the way, the Polish team has hinted that the Silent Hill 2 Remake will not be the end of their collaboration with Konami. Fans of the franchise are already wondering which of the other installments should be remade first. In any case, it will take several years, so it’s best to enjoy this remake and move on until there is something concrete to announce.
