Released on Monday, the 2.0 update for SimCity was supposed to fix the top requested bugs and improvements for the controversial always-online game. However, the update has created a whole new list of bugs for players, as compiled by Reddit user Imidazole0.

The list of fixes from developer Maxis has almost been equaled by the list of new bugs found by players. EA Games can at least take heart that plenty of people are still struggling on with the troubled game.

New bugs include trees making siren and car noises, sewage systems overloading, pollution being magnified and cities filling up with taxis.

The patch is supposed to address the various traffic and transit bugs that had plagued the game, and also fix the problem of phantom sounds, among many other things. It appears the update has failed to fix some of these problems, with yet more server issues compounding the new bugs.

SimCity was one of the most anticipated games of 2013, but its launch in March this year was hounded by problems. Servers were pushed so hard many players could not use the game, which requires a constant internet connection. Some features of the game were removed to get it running smoothly again, and have yet to return. Maxis was also accused of being misleading about the reasons for the game being ‘always online’.

Maxis claimed the new ‘GlassBox‘ engine required computing power that home PCs would not be able to handle, but hackers proved the game was able to run without an internet connection. The bugs in the AI, which led to hilarious traffic activity, also undermined the claim that GlassBox was so powerful it required server side computing.

The saga of SimCity continues.
