Spider-Noir will premiere in just over a month and according to its showrunner they already have ambitious plans for subsequent seasons

The first season of Spider-Noir premieres on Prime Video on May 27, taking viewers to a 1933 New York, in the context of the Great Depression and the rise of organized crime. The series, based on the eponymous Marvel comic, features Ben Reilly, played by Nicolas Cage, a private investigator who has left his life as a hero and faces deep personal pain. In this new interpretation, Reilly, a middle-aged man, significantly contrasts with the young Spider-Man, Peter Parker, offering a fresh perspective to the narrative.

A series that doesn’t want to end with just one season

Showrunner Oren Uziel has expressed that the series will not only focus on the crime of the era, but also has ambitious plans for future seasons. Conveniently, the historical context is set to explore New York’s decline leading up to World War II, a global conflict that began in 1939. Uziel stated that the city was going through extremely difficult times, and he believes this provides fertile ground for drama and conflict, which are vital in any detective story.

In the first trailer for Spider-Noir, several iconic villains that Reilly will face have been revealed, including Electro and Sandman, ensuring that there will be thrills and challenges throughout the season. Additionally, the evolving narrative promises to take viewers on an immersive and complex experience, with a detective trying to maintain control in a city engulfed in crime and economic decay.

With a cast that includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, and Brendan Gleeson, Spider-Noir promises to be an intriguing addition to the Marvel universe on the streaming platform.
