Japan bows to Nintendo

The rest of the games are almost entirely made up of games for Nintendo consoles. With Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream coming in second and third, having accumulated nearly 700,000 and around 1,500,000 copies respectively in Japan alone, this demonstrates the consistency of Nintendo’s recent releases. That trend is also reflected in fifth and sixth place, Mario Kart World and Pokémon Pokopia, surpassing 5 million and 1 million copies respectively.

The only game in the top 10 that isn’t on a Nintendo console is in 10th place and is a PlayStation 5 title, from Konami. The ever-popular eBaseball: PRO SPIRIT 2026 just sneaks onto the list with 3,915 copies sold this week.

As for hardware sales, the best-selling console is Nintendo Switch 2, which this week alone has sold more than 50,000 consoles, followed by PlayStation 5, which has sold a little over 8,500 consoles. All models of the original Switch sold a little over 6,000 units. Showing that Nintendo currently has an unmatched position in Japan.
