Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 gets its first trailer: January 20, 2027 return confirmed

Lucasfilm has dropped the first teaser for Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2, and Disney+ says the new season premieres on January 20, 2027, almost three years after Season 1 first arrived.

The teaser suggests a bigger, stranger second season. Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo are back as Ahsoka and Sabine, Rory McCann gets his first footage as Baylan Skoll, there’s a Star Wars: The Clone Wars flashback featuring Anakin Skywalker and a young Ahsoka, and Grand Admiral Thrawn looks like an even larger problem after his return left the New Republic in a shaky position.

The trailer also hints that Lucasfilm is going further into Mortis gods mythology. Season 2 picks up with Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on Peridea while Grand Admiral Thrawn is back on the board. Returning cast members include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi, Lars Mikkelsen, and Hayden Christensen.

Lucasfilm says Rory McCann is carrying Baylan Skoll’s story forward after Ray Stevenson’s death in 2023, with Stevenson’s family consulted, and the teaser makes it pretty clear Baylan is still central to the story. If you follow this corner of Star Wars, this is the part to pay attention to.

Lucasfilm also says Dave Filoni wrote all eight episodes as showrunner and directed both the premiere and the finale, and that production took place in the UK from April through October 2025.
