Fans of the Villainous franchise are in for a real treat with the upcoming new release. The German game and toy company, Ravensburger, has announced a new Villainous board game to take players to the Star Wars universe.

In Star wars Villainous: Power of the Dark Side, players can continue the trend of playing as the bad guys. In this version, players can choose between six Star Wars antagonists, Darth Vader, Asajj Ventress, Kylo Ren, Moff Gideon, or General Grievous. Players will try and use their villains to battle for ultimate supremacy.

Star Wars Villainous will also introduce a few new twists to the Villainous game engine. Amongst these new features is the inclusion of vehicles for the first time. Vehicles will provide players with more options on their turn, and they can interact with other vehicles in different ways. Friendly vehicles will cost Ambition (known as Power in previous games), and hostile vehicles will cost Fate.

The gameplay will follow the same asymmetric style as previous games. Players will try to finish their individual objectives before the others. For example, Darth Vader will try to convert Luke to the dark side, and Moff Gideon tries to capture Grogu (Baby Yoda). Players can use heroes, vehicles, and other consequences to interfere with the other players.

It’s important to note that although Star Wars Villainous shares its name with the other Villainous titles, each is meant to be played on its own. Each game has its own mechanics that work for that franchise, preventing crossplay from being possible.

Star Wars Villainous is set to be released to stores in August. We look forward to seeing how this game works. Will you be playing as Darth Vader first? Or perhaps the broody Kylo Ren?
