If you’ve opened Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, or any social media platform in the last few days, you’ve probably seen a bunch of teenagers screaming in movie theaters. This is all thanks to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the grand concert film that the Pennsylvania singer has premiered almost worldwide.

Undoubtedly, Taylor Swift has done a phenomenal job attracting her massive audience to cinemas to watch her concert while continuing her tour and complementing both successes. But what few expected is that she even managed to achieve a record that equals Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film. Truly an admirable milestone.

Incredible numbers indeed

The specific record is that, according to AMC’s estimated forecasts, Taylor Swift’s grand premiere has achieved between 95 and 97 million dollars in the United States in its first weekend. This puts her on par with Joker, which grossed 96.2 million dollars in its US release in 2019. Thus, we could be witnessing Taylor Swift surpassing Joker, something truly remarkable.

But this is not the only impressive record she has achieved. She previously surpassed Spider-Man: No Way Home in the record for the highest single-day presale earnings, as well as outperforming the total presales of other genre films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Batman.

Without a doubt, what Taylor Swift is achieving with “just” a concert film is incredible. Regardless of Kanye West‘s feelings about it, we’re talking about one of the most significant artists of our generation, and probably the only one capable of achieving numbers like these.
