What would you do if you had an unexpected success that has grossed 400 million at the box office and sold millions of books worldwide? If the answer is not “Get the most out of it,” let me tell you that you are lying to yourself. And the perfect example is the good Freida McFadden, who after bursting onto the scene thanks to The Maid, now wants to increase her wealth with another adaptation. I wouldn’t say no to anything that would boost the bank account either, Freida.

Attending to Success

After the success of the movie and the novel, Lionsgate has already signed a new version of The Maid, this time in theater format. The producers will be Melting Pot, who have already created unforgettable plays such as Life of Pi, Paranormal Activity or The Notebook. Yes, you read that right, plays: there is a whole subworld of movies re-adapted to the stage that, judging by what we’ve seen, must be working quite well.

No one knows when the performances will start, but it is expected to be before the second part of The Assistant arrives on December 17, 2017. The saga has 3 novels and a short story that can always be extended, so Hollywood still has room to continue telling the misadventures of Sydney Sweeney in film, theater, and wherever she pleases.

Lionsgate is not going to settle for just The Assistant: it has smelled the money and is going for it, with future versions of Dirty Dancing, La La Land, Wonder, and The Hunger Games, which is already being performed in London’s West End, where it is receiving rather average reviews. You can’t have success forever!
