Even though Nokia was bought out by Microsoft and the end of new Symbian is on the horizon, it doesn’t mean that proud owners of the Nokia N8 won’t still be able to enjoy their mobile phones. Although new apps won’t be released after January 2014, there are a ton of staple apps still available for the Symbian^3 operating system, which the Nokia N8 runs, that’ll help you get the most from your Nokia device. Below is a list of the top 10 best apps to have on your Nokia N8 device.

Angry Birds (Games)

Still one of the most popular mobile games on many platforms, Angry Birds is the ridiculously addictive game in which you need to catapult your feathered friends into walls of blocks in order to destroy the bad piggies trapped inside. It’s the perfect companion to any long journey, and if you want a little bit of variety, you can also try another title in the series, like Angry Birds Rio.

WhatsApp (Instant Messenger)


WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps, and its available on virtually every platform, including Symbian. WhatsApp lets you chat with friends over Wifi or using your mobile data package, and it has a ton of cool features like sharing photos and voice notes.

Viber (Instant Messenger)

If WhatsApp isn’t your thing, you can always try Viber. Although the app doesn’t have the phone call function that is typical on other devices like iPhone and Android, the Viber app for Symbian lets you communicate with your contacts via SMS, free of charge. Like other similar apps, fring lets you send instant messages to people on other social accounts, including Facebook.

The most popular social network has a Symbian app to help Nokia N8 users stay connected to all their friends. It functions in much the same way as the mobile site, letting you update your status, browse through photos, and chat to your friends. You can also integrate your Facebook calendar and contacts with those in your phone, a handy feature to help you stay on top of your social calendar.

Opera Mobile (Browser)

If you’re getting frustrated with the N8’s built-in web browser, give Opera Mobile a try. Opera Mobile also promises a faster mobile internet experience, thanks to its famed server-side compression technology. You can also try UC Browser, another popular web browser for the N8.

Spotify (Music Player)

If you’re already a Spotify user, then downloading the mobile app for your Nokia N8 is a necessity! The app lets you listen to music wherever you go, streaming it over 3G or WiFi. You can even create offline playlists that you can listen to when you’re not connected to 3G or Wifi, but just remember,  you’ll need a Spotify premium account to use the full functions of this app.
