The best-selling manga of 2026 so far has sold over 100 million units in its entire history

Since its launch in 2006, the manga Kingdom, created by Yasuhisa Hara, has sold over 100 million copies, establishing itself as one of the great titans in the world of manga. As 2026 begins, Kingdom leads sales, having sold 79,203 units between late January and early February, surpassing other renowned works such as Frieren and Jujutsu Kaisen, which recorded 75,437 and 74,745 sales, respectively.

A historical manga that is making history

The narrative of Kingdom unfolds in the context of the Warring States Period in China and follows the adventures of Xin and Piao, two young orphans with the ambition to become great generals. The story delves into themes of personal growth and warfare, keeping readers captivated with its narrative complexity, which has led to comparisons with other successes like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga.

The success of Kingdom is not only measured by its sales in print format but also by its successful anime adaptation. The series has six seasons produced by the Pierrot studio, with the most recent one released in October 2025 through Crunchyroll. A second part of the adaptation has recently been confirmed, although a release date has not yet been set. To accompany this announcement, the platform has released two summary videos highlighting the most impactful moments from the last season.

With its blend of political intrigue and epic battles, Kingdom has become a benchmark in the medieval fantasy genre, securing its place among the leaders of contemporary manga and reaffirming its impact on popular culture.
