The Blood of Dawnwalker on Xbox: New Zealand trick could unlock it early

If you’re trying to get in a little early, the New Zealand trick is really an Xbox thing. It only works when a game unlocks at 12:00 a.m. local time, in each region, and The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to use that staggered console rollout on Xbox. So if you switch your system region to New Zealand, there’s a decent chance you’ll get access several hours ahead of schedule. PC is different. Bandai Namco is going with a single global launch there, which means changing your location settings probably won’t do anything.

Pre-load opened 48 hours before release, which is why countdowns, launch maps, and the usual last-minute “does this still work?” posts are everywhere right now. If you’re on Xbox, already pre-loaded, and trying to squeeze out every extra hour you can before the standard release hits, this is something to sort out before launch. Just keep the tradeoff in mind: changing your console region is generally treated as a breach of platform terms of service, even if there isn’t any widely reported track record of Microsoft banning people for doing it.
