The sequel to The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, has generated great anticipation following the success of the first installment.
Since its release in 2022, the character of Batman has resonated with the audience thanks to his new portrayal, an emotionally complex Bruce Wayne seeking redemption.
With the start of pre-production for The Batman Part 2, rumors about the direction of the next film are in full swing.
Could adapt a famous graphic novel
Recently, it has been confirmed that Sebastian Stan will play Harvey Dent, a crucial character in the Gotham mythology.Alongside him, Scarlett Johansson will also join the cast in an undisclosed role, which has led to speculation about whether she will portray Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife.
This rumor is supported by the theory that the sequel could more directly adapt the acclaimed graphic novel The Long Halloween, where Batman teams up with Gordon and Dent to confront the criminal Falcone family and a serial killer known as Holiday.
However, another rumor that has gained traction suggests that Johansson could play the role of Jessica Dent, Harvey’s sister, who in the series Batman: Earth One becomes a female version of Two-Face. This idea, although less likely, would offer a unique twist in the narrative, moving away from the more conventional role of Gilda and bringing a fresh approach to the Dent story in the Batman universe.
The influence of Batman: Earth One has already been felt in the first movie, especially with the plot about Thomas Wayne’s failed political campaign. With these new additions and possible adaptations, the upcoming sequel has the potential to offera completely new cinematic experience for fans, producing a radical change in the way these classic stories have been told.
