John Romero, the iconic co-creator of Doom and a central figure in the video game industry since the 80s, continues to innovate and explore new horizons in game development.
Currently, he is working on several projects, including a new WAD for Doom 2 and an unrevealed first-person shooter (FPS), which was saved from cancellation after losing funding last year. In his words, We are alive. We keep working.
John Romero has always been a particular person
Romero has highlighted the importance of the indie scene in the evolution of video game design, stating that he constantly seeks new ideas in this area. This approach allows him to stay updated on innovations and emerging trends, which are fundamental for modern game development.
Among his recent favorite games is Arc Raiders, which combines battle royale elements with a PvE focus, allowing players to enjoy collaboration without the stress of direct competition.
However, his devotion also extends to World of Warcraft, where he has accumulated over 3,000 hours of gameplay, and to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, which has marked his history as a classic he never plans to uninstall.
Romero also maintains a meticulously organized work environment, reflecting his focus on efficiency. His game library, which spans from his early days in programming to the latest titles, showcases his ongoing commitment to quality and creativity. Additionally, his interest in emerging technologies and entertainment is emphasized by mentioning a tool he has developed, called In Your Face, to manage notifications more effectively.
Finally, Romero remains a benchmark in the industry, not only for his legacy in the development of FPS but also for his constant pursuit of innovation and his passion for video games.
