The director of Baldur's Gate 3 claims that his new project is already starting to take shape

Larian Studios has generated great anticipation among fans by recently presenting a cinematic trailer for their new project, Divinity, at the Game Awards. This announcement comes after the resounding success of Baldur’s Gate 3, which has increased the hopes of the gaming community, although doubts have also arisen about the state of development of the title. The concern does not stem from distrust, but from the unease due to the lack of concrete information since the initial reveal.

Divinity is already heading in the right direction

The game director, Swen Vincke, wanted to dispel those doubts by sharing on his social media that the development is progressing positively. Vincke revealed that he recently had an inspiring conversation with Adam Smith, the studio’s script director, during which fresh ideas were shared that led to a significant increase in creative energy within the team. “I felt like I was back in a good place,” Vincke commented, highlighting that the game is starting to take shape and is full of potential yet to be explored.

According to Vincke, the development process of Divinity will follow a cycle similar to that of Baldur’s Gate 3. It is expected that, like the latter, Divinity will have an early access release, although fans will need to be patient as the final version is not expected until 2030. This strategy is not unfamiliar to Larian Studios, which began development on Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2017 and launched it in early access in 2020, ultimately achieving full release in 2023.

The message from Vincke and the intention of the study to work meticulously are indicative that the experience Divinity will offer could be equal to or greater than what fans have enjoyed before. However, it is crucial for the community to remain patient while the game develops and takes shape in the coming years.
