Andrew Stanton, an iconic figure in animation, is known for his work on Pixar classics such as Finding Nemo and WALL·E, as well as co-writing other iconic works like Toy Story and Monsters, Inc.. His career has expanded into live-action, with the film John Carter as his debut in this format, although it did not achieve the expected success. Recently, Stanton has released In a Moment, a science fiction film that is now available on Disney+, in an unusual move for the House of Mouse, as it premiered directly on streaming.

In an instant, it narrates intertwined stories spanning thousands of years, starting with a family of Neanderthals 45,000 years ago, up to an astronaut in the 25th century. Despite expectations, the reviews following its debut at the Sundance festival were unfavorable, raising questions about Stanton’s future in live-action cinema. The cast includes Daveed Diggs, Kate McKinnon, and Rashida Jones, who lend their voices to this epic.
Despite the difficulties in this last project, Stanton has not stepped away from animation. His next work will be Toy Story 5, scheduled to be released on June 19, 2024. This new chapter introduces a smart toy named Lilypad, which creates a crisis among Bonnie’s toys, forcing the return of Woody, a character who chose to go his own way at the end of Toy Story 4. The introduction of Lilypad is presented as a threat to the group’s dynamic, promising an exciting development in this new installment of the franchise.
