The director of 'The Devil Wears Prada' wants to make the third part already. How original

For years and years, fans of The Devil Wears Prada have wanted, by any means, a sequel. And it has taken 20 years, but it has been worth it: it has something to say, its actresses are in their prime, and the audience has responded with over 250 million dollars raised in about 10 days. The problem is that, given that Meryl Streep is 76 years old, it may not be wise to wait another two decades for a third part.

Don Diablo has escaped

At this point, this news is like explaining that water is wet, but the truth is that, after years of evasions, it is a pleasure to see them speak clearly about how they want to add a handful of millions more to their bank accounts. Especially David Frankel, the director, whose films outside the saga have been, to be kind, a monumental failure. At 67 years old, Frankel has once again tasted the sweetness of success and, obviously, wants to repeat it as soon as possible.

“I said ‘Never say never again’ and here we are. So I certainly would never say ‘Never say never again’ again.” If it serves as consolation, that’s exactly what happened to Sean Connery when he said he would “never say never again” to playing James Bond, only to do it a few years later in a movie titled… Never Say Never Again. Ouch, the irony.

Streep has also said that if they want to make a third part, it has to be now or never, to which the director simply responded, “Let’s see what happens. If there were an opportunity to revisit the characters and spend a few months with these fabulous performers again, I would obviously do it.” In Hollywood language, it means “Please, let’s sign already, I need a new yacht,” just so you know.
