However, we all know what happens when a classic is revisited, and in the end, it doesn’t always please everyone. Some fans have been critical of certain changes in the Remake. However, for Masashi Tsuboyama, the director of the first Silent Hill, some of these changes are welcome and necessary.

One of the changes that has caused the most concern has been the inclusion of the third-person camera. The original Silent Hill 2 used a sort of static camera that followed the player as they moved. However, for the most devoted fans of the original, Bloober Team’s approach is nothing short of an aberration. A completely opposite opinion to that of Tsuboyama.

In his thread, he emphasizes that one of the aspects he likes most about the remake is precisely its new camera. The director also admits that he is not satisfied with the camera of the original game. For him, having it positioned over the protagonist’s shoulder adds a “sense of realism.”

However, he doesn’t hold back when it comes to expressing his personal criticism. Specifically, the director believes that the differences between the original and the remake on a visual level (such as 4K, photorealism, and the inclusion of certain accessories) “are all mediocre […] Who is this product aimed at?”
