Big Walk, House House’s new game, has launched with an impressive 93 on Metacritic. This cooperative multiplayer game, which takes place in a vast world where we have to use all kinds of tools and toys to communicate with your teammates, has taken critics by storm for its innovative approach to the open-world concept and gameplay systems. Making it one of the highest-rated games of the year.
The GOTY to play with your friends
Eurogamer calls it “a fun, exciting, and deeply rewarding multiplayer adventure that combines zany fun with some surprisingly big ideas,” while GameSpot says “Big Walk takes fundamental and timeless video game concepts — obstacles and incentives to overcome them — and, through an intensely focused cooperative experience, turns them into something uniquely rewarding.”
This hasn’t come as a surprise to critics, because House House have made games that have been widely acclaimed in the past. In 2016 they released Push Me Pull You, a brilliant cooperative action game where two pairs battled for control of balls, each member of the pair controlling one end of a character that could stretch almost infinitely. In 2019 they released Untitled Goose Game, a comedy about a vandal goose that has to terrorize an entire town with its misdeeds. It went on to win three GOTYs: one at the Australian Game Developer Awards, one at the D.I.C.E. Awards, and one at the Game Developers Choice Awards. The latter two are among the industry’s most prestigious awards.
Now, Big Walk is set to launch on August 4, 2026 to strong early reviews. And it’s likely that player response will be just as enthusiastic when it finally arrives on Steam, given the quality of their work.
